The "Grab for Family" account feature, designed to facilitate group bookings for families, has been upgraded. Account holders can now add members aged 13-17, allowing them to independently book GrabCar, GrabBike, GrabFood, or GrabMart services. Parents can monitor and manage all trips directly through the app.
To ensure safety, Grab has added multiple layers of protection for rides and orders serving teenage users. Specifically: only driver-partners with a 5-star rating and no safety-related violations will be assigned trips for teenage users. All rides require PIN verification before departure to prevent driver mix-ups. Once a trip begins, the AudioProtect feature, which automatically records the journey, is activated by default for GrabCar and GrabBike rides, aiding in handling unusual situations. Audio files are encrypted and automatically deleted after 5 days if no safety incident reports are filed.
Additionally, the system supports real-time trip monitoring, detecting deviations from the route, unusual stops, or earlier-than-expected trip endings. Account holders receive instant notifications at every stage of the journey and can communicate directly with the driver via a group GrabChat.
Beyond transport services, teenage users can also place GrabFood and GrabMart orders, with age-appropriate restrictions. For example, teenage members cannot order age-restricted products like alcoholic beverages.

According to Nguyen Hanh Linh, Director of Mobility at Grab Vietnam, Vietnam is the fourth country in Southeast Asia to pilot services for teenage users, following Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines. The feature is being rolled out as 13-17 year olds increasingly need independent travel to school, extra classes, sports centers, entertainment areas, or daily activity locations. This new solution empowers teenagers to book rides independently while reassuring parents with trip monitoring, cashless payments, and strict management mechanisms via the app.
Previously, Grab launched the "Grab for Family" feature in 2024. By Quarter III/2025, the number of accounts registered for the service had increased by 3,6 times compared to the beginning of this year.
