Grab organizes restaurant partner conference in Hanoi

Grab Vietnam hosted a restaurant partner conference for over 300 business households and individuals, focusing on new tax information and revenue growth solutions, on 30/7.

Grab Vietnam hosted its first partner conference in Hanoi, aiming to equip merchant partners with access to information and consultation on new tax regulations. The conference focused on expert insights and clarifications from tax authorities and tax consulting firms regarding tax policies and their direct impact on sellers operating on e-commerce digital platforms.

Recently, the government introduced new tax policies and regulations to enhance management efficiency in the digital economy. These include Decree 68/2026/ND-CP, which outlines tax policies and administration for business households and individuals; Decree 252/2026/ND-CP, detailing certain articles and measures for implementing the Law on Tax Administration; and Decree 254/2026/ND-CP, providing specific regulations and implementation guidance for the Law on Tax Administration regarding electronic invoices and documents, effective from 1/7. Consequently, business households and individuals with annual revenue exceeding 1 billion VND are now required to use electronic invoices.

During the conference, Van Thanh Hien, a principal specialist from Department 3, E-commerce Tax Sub-department, Tax Department, presented the latest classification table for business households. She emphasized the importance for business households and individuals to understand their specific group and associated tax obligations. For those operating on e-commerce platforms, this knowledge also includes distinguishing between obligations the platform can support and those the business household or individual must fulfill independently.

Representatives from the Tax Sub-department also addressed common questions from business households and individuals. For instance, they clarified necessary actions when revenue changes lead to altered tax obligations, or whether business households and individuals need to issue invoices for transactions where tax has already been deducted by the e-commerce platform.

Tran Hoang Tuan, Market Development Director at Grab Vietnam, noted that not all restaurant owners have sufficient resources to fully access tax information and adapt their operations to market changes. Therefore, Grab connects them with reputable and reliable information sources to boost their business knowledge and compliance. In the long term, Grab also invests in developing technical solutions to alleviate technology and process pressures faced by partners.

"Through this approach, we aim to empower business households and individuals, who constitute a large portion of the F&B industry, and contribute to the industry's sustainable development", Tran Hoang Tuan said.

Beyond tax knowledge and legal regulations, business households and individuals also showed keen interest in strategies to reach more customer segments and achieve new business milestones. Grab introduced solutions to help partners effectively engage corporate customers, aligning with the conference theme: "Len so len don - cung Grab dan dau tang truong" (Boosting orders and growth - leading with Grab).

Grab's data indicates a growing budget among corporate customers for food delivery services. This segment tends to place orders with restaurants that comply with tax and invoicing regulations. Additionally, users with corporate accounts frequently utilize features like group ordering or the 39,000 VND Meal collection on GrabFood. Grab representatives stated, "A full understanding and compliance with tax regulations, combined with active participation in Grab's consumer solutions tailored for the corporate customer segment, will open new growth opportunities for business households and individuals on the Grab platform."

Le Duc Anh, owner of Bun Cha Viet in Hanoi and a merchant partner at the event, found the discussions on new tax regulations "very practical and useful for business households". He confirmed a clearer understanding of the steps required to ensure his restaurant's operations comply with tax authority regulations. "From a business perspective, our brand recently joined co-sponsored programs and the 39,000 VND Meal collection, and we are seeing a steady increase in new customers and positive revenue growth", Le Duc Anh said.
