The South Luzon container port (SLCT) project, with an investment of approximately 800 million USD, is located about 110 km south of Manila, within the Bauan International Port in Batangas province. Once completed, the port is expected to serve industrial and manufacturing activities, including cargo transport needs for energy and industrial projects in the area.
The launch ceremony was attended by Acting Secretary of Transportation Giovanni Z. Lopez and Customs Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno.
Christian R. Gonzalez, ICTSI Executive Vice President, stated that realizing a large-scale infrastructure project requires close coordination with local authorities. "We expect the project to demonstrate what can be achieved through long-term cooperation and commitment to development", he added.
According to plans, upon completion, SLCT will feature an 800 m berth, a 38 hectare yard, a draft of 18 m, and a handling capacity of over 2 million TEU per year.
Phase one of the project includes marine works and the construction of a 425 m berth, designed to accommodate super post-Panamax vessels. Construction is expected from 5/2027 to 9/2027, with equipment installation anticipated to be completed by 8/2027.
