PVCFC supports STEM lab with over 3 billion VND for school in Thanh Hoa

PVCFC invests in STEM lab at Lam Son high school for the gifted, supporting students to access science and technology practice, and creating better learning conditions for local students.

Petrovietnam, the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group, recently inaugurated two STEM education practice rooms as part of its STEM Innovation Petrovietnam program on 16/11/2024. During this event, PetroVietnam Ca Mau Fertilizer Joint Stock Company (PVCFC) sponsored one of these STEM practice rooms, valued at over 3 billion VND, for Lam Son High School for the Gifted. This marks the 5th STEM lab PVCFC has invested in for this modern educational approach.

The STEM lab in Thanh Hoa was rapidly designed and completed in 15 days. The space features six integrated functional zones: facilities, processing machinery and specialized equipment, thematic learning tools, a smart learning system, hardcopy and softcopy learning materials, and an operational management toolkit. Structured as an experimental environment, the classroom enables students to program, simulate, fabricate, and implement technological ideas through a "learning-by-doing" approach.

During the inauguration ceremony, students and teachers from Lam Son High School for the Gifted showcased operational models, demonstrating their enthusiasm for accessing the modern interdisciplinary educational space. Given the strong academic capabilities of the school's students, the STEM lab provides an opportunity for them to transition from theoretical excellence to practical innovation and application.

For over 90 years, Lam Son High School for the Gifted has been one of the nation's top schools for national and international gifted student achievements. In the most recent academic year, 83 out of 89 participating students won national gifted student awards, including 9 first prizes, 22 second prizes, 23 third prizes, and 29 consolation prizes, achieving a 93,3% success rate.

In his speech at the inauguration, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long praised the significant development of Lam Son High School for the Gifted. He noted that over time, the school has educated numerous outstanding students, many of whom have grown to make important contributions to society. From this institution, generations of students have gone on to leading universities both domestically and internationally, becoming scientists, experts, and global citizens.

For PVCFC, investing in STEM education is a vital part of its strategy to integrate knowledge and technology with the development of modern agriculture. The company is promoting green agriculture, digital agriculture, and automation. Therefore, supporting the STEM lab is also a way to nurture generations of students who can become future engineers, technology experts, data analysts, or technical staff for the energy, chemical, and fertilizer industries.

A PVCFC representative stated that the company expects the STEM lab to inspire creative thinking, foster a passion for science, and equip students to confidently enter the technological era. The project, inaugurated with the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister and Petrovietnam leaders, clearly demonstrates PVCFC's commitment to supporting educational innovation and high-quality human resource development in line with the spirit of the Party's Resolution 57 and Resolution 71.

Locally, the STEM lab at Lam Son is considered a starting point for spreading integrated education throughout the province. This innovation in teaching and learning, combined with experimentation, is expected to boost student scientific research. Given the local tradition of studiousness, the support from Petrovietnam and PVCFC could quickly translate into valuable projects, models, or initiatives.

The project was inaugurated just before Vietnamese Teachers' Day on 20/11/2024, serving as a tribute to the teachers who guide students in their journey of knowledge and character development. From Ca Mau to Thanh Hoa, Ca Mau Fertilizer (PVCFC) believes this STEM lab will provide "a source of knowledge energy," expanding access to science and creating a foundation for students to achieve more in the future.
