Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh presented the appointment decision for Le Ngoc Son at PVN's 2024 business review conference on the afternoon of 26/12.
Son, born in 1972, holds a master's degree in mining technology. He previously served as head of PVN's oil and gas exploitation department, then as general director of Phu Quoc Petroleum Operating Company for nearly 5 years.
He has been PVN's general director since March 2024. Before that, he was deputy general director of PVN, overseeing oil and gas exploration, prospecting, and exploitation.
Previously, Le Manh Hung held the position of chairman of PVN's board of members. Hung was recently reassigned by the Prime Minister to serve as acting Minister of Industry and Trade, replacing Nguyen Hong Dien. A day earlier, the Politburo reassigned Dien to serve as full-time deputy secretary of the National Assembly's Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term.
In 2025, PVN reported revenues exceeding 1.1 trillion VND, surpassing its plan by 36%. This figure is 103.6 trillion VND higher, representing a 10% increase compared to last year's performance. The group's total contribution to the State budget met its full-year target four months early, estimated at 165.9 trillion VND.
By the end of 2025, PVN's owner's equity reached 391.7 trillion VND. According to Vietnam Report, PVN ranked 2nd, marking its 17th consecutive year among the top 3 largest enterprises nationwide.
