The unit's goal for incorporating artificial intelligence into IELTS test preparation is to personalize learning through data. This technology analyzes data and suggests learning paths, while instructors retain their roles in guidance and specialized support.

Nguyen Anh Duc, Chairman of Smartcom English's Board of Directors, stated that in current IELTS preparation, learners typically only discover their results during the actual exam. If learning data is continuously analyzed by artificial intelligence, students can estimate their potential scores before taking the test.

"This helps students understand their position in their learning journey and how much more effort is needed to achieve their goals, based on artificial intelligence's suggestions after analyzing their learning data," he affirmed.

Through research and observation of student learning, Smartcom English recognized that assessing progress based on periodic tests or teacher feedback often did not accurately reflect real-world outcomes, as learners' abilities continuously change over time.

"Therefore, IELTS preparation sometimes resembles a trial-and-error journey, leading to wasted time, costs, and effort for learners," a representative of the unit added.

Addressing this gap, Smartcom English developed a specialized artificial intelligence system, Smartcom AI, with the objective of analyzing learning data and predicting a learner's potential band score.

The process begins with an entrance exam simulating the computer-based IELTS format, similar to systems used by IDP and British Council. Artificial intelligence then meticulously analyzes errors in the test, from question types and grammar to vocabulary, subsequently building a personalized learning path based on an adaptive learning model. This solution uses artificial intelligence to analyze learning data and create individualized learning paths, contributing to a more systematic and effective English training program.

Throughout the learning process, the system continuously monitors practice data and updates predictions of the IELTS band score a learner could achieve if they took the official exam at that moment. It also suggests a specific future test date. This prediction level changes in real time based on the learner's progress and practice intensity.

In addition to analyzing learning data, Smartcom AI also supports personalized speaking practice with a chatbot, provides a real-time learning report system, and offers parent accounts to monitor academic progress. Alongside artificial intelligence-powered learning, students can participate in online IELTS practice sessions with Smartcom instructors to refine all four skills.

According to Smartcom's statistics, the Smartcom AI platform is used to train approximately 3,000 students annually. About 96% of these students achieve an IELTS score of 6,0 or higher, with over 50% reaching scores between 7,0 and 8,5.
