VIB's super yield account boosts returns to 6% annually

VIB has increased the yield on its Super Yield account to 6% per year, allowing idle funds in checking accounts to earn daily profits while maintaining flexibility for spending and withdrawals.

More than one year after its launch, VIB's Super Yield account has transformed how millions of users view their checking accounts. These accounts are no longer passive holding spaces, but dynamic platforms where money actively generates daily returns.

Most individuals keep a consistent balance in their accounts for daily payments and expenditures. This amount can range from several million to hundreds of millions of VND, depending on financial habits and income. However, traditional demand deposit interest rates typically yield low, often negligible, returns on these balances.

VIB identifies a fundamental difference in how funds are managed. The Super Yield account eliminates the need for users to alter spending habits or lock funds into fixed terms. Following a one-time activation on the MyVIB digital banking app, account balances begin generating daily profits while retaining full flexibility for transfers, payments, or withdrawals at any time.

The annual yield of up to 6% is calculated daily and continuously compounds as long as a balance is maintained. For example, a balance of 50 million VND held for 90 days could accumulate nearly 600,000 VND in interest. Maintaining 200 million VND for the same period could yield close to 2,5 million VND, and 500 million VND could generate nearly 6 million VND in accumulated interest over 90 days.

Users do not lose accumulated interest when making transactions. They can transfer, pay, or withdraw funds while previous days' interest remains intact. Furthermore, idle funds continue to generate daily profits without interruption from weekends or holidays.

According to VIB, the 6% annual yield marks the highest rate for the Super Yield account since its launch on 17/2/2025. The bank states this initiative is integral to its ongoing commitment to enhancing user experience and increasing benefits throughout product development.

Beyond its attractive yield, VIB highlights the Super Yield account's unique balance of profitability and flexibility. Users gain returns without sacrificing liquidity, as all balance changes, accumulated interest, and total earnings are transparently displayed on the MyVIB app.

Three months post-launch, on 17/5/2025, over 100,000 users opened Super Yield accounts within a single 24-hour period, a milestone recognized by the Vietnam Record Organization. VIB attributes this success to the increasing demand for financial solutions that enable idle funds to generate value during daily use.

Beyond individual clients, VIB has extended the Super Yield account to corporate customers via the VIB Business platform. The bank anticipates this model will transform how businesses manage working capital, enabling idle funds in their checking accounts to generate daily profits throughout operations.

From VIB's perspective, payment accounts are evolving beyond their traditional role as mere transactional conduits. Now, idle funds can actively circulate and generate additional value during everyday use.
