Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation (EVNHCMC) and Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC) are intensifying efforts to accelerate the energization of 110kV power projects within the expanded TP HCM area. This initiative, highlighted during a recent working session, aims to ensure a stable and reliable power supply for regions that were formerly parts of Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau provinces. During the meeting, EVNHCMC and EVNSPC discussed and agreed on solutions to overcome challenges and expedite the completion of these crucial infrastructure projects.

Following a significant merger, the TP HCM power sector has undergone a reorganization, integrating power companies from the two former localities. The region now includes five affiliated units: Binh Duong Power Company, Ben Cat Power Company, Thuan An Power Company, Dat Do Power Company, and Vung Tau Power Company. A total of 62 110kV power grid projects are currently underway. Of these, EVNSPC is the investor for 40 projects located in the former Binh Duong area and 22 projects in the former Ba Ria - Vung Tau area.
To streamline progress, the TP HCM Power Grid Project Management Board has taken over 25 pre-investment projects from EVNSPC, which have not yet commenced construction. These include 17 projects in Binh Duong and 8 projects in Ba Ria - Vung Tau previously, slated for review and continued implementation. Additionally, EVNSPC is constructing the remaining 17 projects, which will be handed over to EVNHCMC for management and operation upon completion.

At the meeting, both parties agreed to coordinate the implementation of specific work groups. This ensures synchronization in registering power connections and disconnections, organizing acceptance, and handing over projects according to operational decentralization. Mr. Bui Hai Thanh, Deputy General Director of EVNHCMC, urged affiliated units to prioritize supporting EVNSPC, adhering to the spirit of shared responsibility to complete projects on schedule and enhance power supply reliability for the region.

The two power companies responsible for the Binh Duong and Vung Tau areas were asked to continue close coordination with EVNSPC's Project Management Boards regarding compensation, site clearance, and handling procedures related to the construction process. The meeting also proposed that all parties proactively coordinate, regularly update progress, and promptly report any emerging issues. EVNHCMC and EVNSPC agreed on the common goal: completing all projects this year (2025), ensuring stable power supply for the Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau regions in 2026 and subsequent years.
