Vietnam Airlines is launching a new flight route to meet rising demand for travel, trade, and cargo transport between Vietnam and the Netherlands. Starting 16/6, the airline will operate three round trips each week using wide-body Airbus A350 aircraft. The flight schedule allows passengers from Europe to conveniently connect to domestic and regional destinations in Vietnam.
Amsterdam Schiphol serves as a major European transit airport and a crucial logistics gateway. Vietnam Airlines secured operating slots, a notable achievement given the airport's often limited capacity.
According to Nguyen Quang Trung, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airlines, the Hanoi - Amsterdam route expands the European flight network and supports economic connectivity between Vietnam and the Netherlands.
The Netherlands stands as Vietnam's largest trade partner in Europe. In 2025, imports from Vietnam to the Netherlands surpassed 11 billion USD, with Dutch businesses investing approximately 16 billion USD in Vietnam. A significant Vietnamese community of around 27,000 residing in the Netherlands also creates consistent travel demand.
Market data shows two-way passenger traffic between Vietnam and the Netherlands surpassed 122,000 in 2024 and continued to increase in 2025. The Hanoi - Amsterdam route alone experienced an over 40% rise compared to the previous year. Direct flights offer shorter travel times and fewer transit stops.
The new route also provides more options for cargo transport, especially for high-value exports to Europe. This direct link will shorten delivery times.
With the Hanoi - Amsterdam route, Vietnam Airlines will operate 12 direct flight routes from Vietnam to Europe, connecting eight destinations.
