The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training announced the 10th-grade admission scores for 170 high schools on the morning of 30/6. These scores represent the total for three subjects: Mathematics, Literature, and English, without any weighting, with a maximum possible score of 30.
A significant majority of schools, 132 out of 165 (excluding five schools recruiting for the first time), saw increased admission scores. This trend was anticipated since the exam took place in early June, with both candidates and teachers noting that the questions were easier than in previous years.
Among the schools with increased scores, Chau Thanh High School recorded the most substantial rise, by 9.5 points, from 9 to 18.5. Tran Van Quan High School followed, with its admission score also doubling, from 5 to 10.75 points.
Other schools among the top 10 with the most significant admission score increases included Nguyen Thi Dieu, Nguyen Trai, Nguyen Huu Tho, Gia Dinh, Phan Dang Luu, Hoang Hoa Tham, Ngo Quyen, and Phu My. All these schools saw increases of four points or more.
Conversely, only 33 schools experienced a decrease in their admission scores.
Nguyen Hue High School in Phuoc Thanh commune saw the sharpest drop, decreasing by 5.7 points, from 14.7 to 9. Xuyen Moc High School and Tay Son High School followed, with decreases of 3.25 and 3.15 points, respectively.
Schools with decreases of two points or more also included Thuong Tan, Tan Binh, Phuoc Hoa, Minh Dam, and Long Hai - Phuoc Tinh. The remaining schools generally saw reductions of around one point.
The 10th-grade exam in Ho Chi Minh City concluded on 2/6. This year marked the first after the merger (Ho Chi Minh City, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Binh Duong), with the city registering over 151,000 candidates, the highest number nationwide. The overall admission rate was approximately 78%.
Successful candidates must confirm their enrollment online via the city's 10th-grade admission portal, from 30/6 to 15/7.
