The Ministry of National Defense's Military Admissions Board announced on 30/6 that 72 candidates have secured direct admission to military schools. This marks the highest number ever recorded, showing a significant increase compared to 2024 and previous years. These successful candidates earned first, second, or third prizes in national excellent student exams across various subjects, including Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Informatics, Biology, History, Geography, English, and Russian.
Several prestigious military academies welcomed these top-performing students. The Military Technical Academy led with 23 directly admitted candidates, followed by the Political Officer School with 20. The Military Medical Academy admitted 18, the Military Science Academy 8, and the Border Guard Academy 3. Of the 72 initial admissions, 65 are male and 7 are female.
This year's direct admission figures represent a substantial growth trend. The 72 direct admissions represent an increase of 3 compared to last year. More notably, this figure is 49 higher than in 2024, indicating more than a three-fold rise. In previous years, the number of direct admissions to military schools typically hovered around 20.
To officially become students, all eligible direct admission candidates must confirm their enrollment on the Ministry of Education and Training's common admission system before 5 PM on 21/8.

The overall intake for military higher education programs has also expanded this year. This year, 23 military schools are recruiting a total of 5,420 university students, an increase of over 1,000 from last year and the highest enrollment in the past 5 years.
Beyond direct admission, candidates have multiple avenues to apply to military schools. Other admission methods include: using national university aptitude test scores from Vietnam National University, Hanoi and TP HCM; scores from the Ministry of National Defense's QDA aptitude test; and high school graduation exam scores. Last year, the highest cut-off score for military schools was 30, specifically for female candidates applying to International Relations at the Military Science Academy and Medicine at the Military Medical Academy.
The Ministry of National Defense also manages civilian higher education programs. Additionally, 15 schools under the Ministry of National Defense are recruiting over 3,880 civilian students for programs ranging from bachelor's to doctoral levels.
