On the morning of 16/12, Jamadarpali Airport witnessed an unprecedented scene: over 8,000 people arrived from 6 h, neatly lined up along the runway to take an exam.
Local officials admitted they had to move the exam venue to the airport because traditional locations like schools would not have enough space to accommodate this record number of participants.
The test included an essay writing section (20 points), basic literacy and general knowledge assessment (30 points). Organizers deployed a large number of personnel and drones to monitor and prevent cheating.
Successful candidates would proceed to a physical fitness test (walking and running) and a skills assessment for specific roles. The goal was to recruit 187 personnel for the civil defense force, also known as semi-professional police. These individuals would assist with traffic control and maintain security and order at 24 police stations under short-term contracts.
Public discussion focused not only on the unusual exam venue but also on the candidates' qualifications. While the position officially required a minimum education of completed 5th grade, many applicants held bachelor's degrees, engineering degrees, and even master's degrees.
A video showing thousands of "intellectuals" filling the runway to vie for a general labor position quickly spread across social media. Many economic experts view this as evidence of severe job scarcity, pushing highly qualified young people into fierce competition for temporary work.
