The Department of Education and Training announced the 10th-grade admission scores for 122 non-specialized public high schools on the evening of 19/6. Of these, 86 schools increased their benchmark scores.
THPT Do Muoi recorded the largest increase, with its score rising by 8.5 points. The school, which first admitted students last year with an initial benchmark of 12, saw its score increase to 20.5 this year. It also received one of the highest numbers of applications, with nearly 6,000 candidates registering.
THPT Tho Xuan had the second-highest increase, with its score rising from 10 to 16 points.
Following this is THPT Phuc Loi, a "phenomenon" in 2025. The school typically had scores of seven to 7.5 points per subject but unexpectedly dropped to 14.5/30. This year, the school "returned to form" by increasing its benchmark score by 5.75 points, reaching 20.25.
Schools with three to four-point increases include Ung Hoa A, Ung Hoa B, Bac Luong Son, Hoai Duc A, Phuc Thinh, and Thuong Cat. The remaining schools generally saw increases of one to two points.
Conversely, only 23 schools lowered their admission scores. My Duc C High School saw the largest decrease of 3.5 points, dropping from 12.5 to 9 points. This passing threshold is only higher than the 8.5 points of Minh Chau Primary, Secondary, and High School, a newly established school on Hanoi's only island commune.
Quang Minh and Trung Gia high schools both reduced their benchmark scores by 1.75 points, falling from approximately 17 to 15 points. Several other schools saw decreases of over one point, such as My Duc B, Yen Lang, Hop Thanh, and Tung Thien; most others decreased by under one point.
This group also comprises schools with the lowest admission scores.
For 2026, Hanoi has approximately 147,000 junior high graduates, with over 124,000 registering for the public 10th-grade exam, a record high. With a quota of about 82,660, the admission rate among test-takers is 66%.
Admitted students will complete enrollment procedures from 25/6 to 27/6. Schools that have not filled their quotas will consider supplementary admission scores on 3/7.
The department announced it will accept re-evaluation requests from candidates until the end of 24/6. Students will know their results by 9/7 at the latest.
