Chemistry leads admission scores for 10th grade natural science specialized classes

Admission scores for 10th grade at Natural Science High School range from 17,5 to 20,25, with the chemistry specialized class having the highest score, followed by the mathematics specialized class.

The High School for Gifted Students (HSGS), affiliated with the University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, announced its 10th grade admission scores on the afternoon of 1/6.

The chemistry specialized class recorded the highest admission score at 20,25 points, an increase of 3,25 points compared to last year. The physics and biology specialized classes had scores of 17,75 and 18 points respectively, also increasing by 0,75 and one point.

The remaining three classes saw a decrease in their admission scores. The 10th grade mathematics specialized class required 19,25 points, while the informatics specialized class (mathematics-based exam) was 17,25 points, and the informatics specialized class (informatics-based exam) was 17,5 points, representing a decrease ranging from 0,25 to two points.

Admission scores are calculated as the sum of the round one mathematics score and twice the specialized subject score, with a maximum total of 30 points. Candidates must achieve a minimum of 4 points in each subject, including the conditional literature and English exams.

Natural Science High School will admit 545 students this year, with each specialized class in mathematics, informatics, physics, chemistry, and biology having a quota of 109 students. The school received nearly 4,000 applications, an increase of nearly 1,000 compared to last year.

The mathematics specialized class had the highest competition rate at nearly one in ten, almost double last year's rate of 1/5,7. The competition ratios for the 10th grade chemistry, physics, informatics, and biology specialized classes were 1/7,3, 1/7,2, 1/6,9, and 1/5,2 respectively.

The entrance examination for the school took place over two days, 23-24/5. Admitted candidates will enroll on 25/6.
