Vietnamese student wins world Microsoft Excel championship

Nguyen Mai Chi, a student from Vietnam Maritime University, won a gold medal at the world office informatics championship, while two other students secured bronze medals.

IIG Vietnam announced on 30/7 that Nguyen Mai Chi, a student from Vietnam Maritime University, won a gold medal in the Microsoft Excel 365 Apps category at the world office informatics championship (MOS World Championship) in the US. The announcement followed the competition's award ceremony.

The MOS World Championship is an annual event organized by Certiport, a US-based IT certification body, since 2002. It targets students aged 13 to 22. This year's final round featured 135 national champions from 36 countries. The success of Vietnamese students underscores the effectiveness of their preparation in international IT and graphic design skills, demonstrating their capability for global integration. Ms. Doan Nguyen Van Khanh, chief executive officer of IIG Vietnam, highlighted that only one set of medals is awarded for each competition category.

Beyond the gold, Nguyen Dinh Bao from Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Da Nang, earned a bronze medal in Microsoft PowerPoint 365 Apps. Do Le Tuan Kiet of Thai Binh Duong Primary - Secondary - High School, Dong Nai, also secured a bronze medal for Microsoft Excel Office 2019. Further showcasing Vietnam's talent, Pham Le Minh Tam from Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted, Ninh Binh, and Phung Ngoc Uyen My from Chu Van An High School for the Gifted, Hanoi, both placed in the top 10 for PowerPoint Office and Word Office 2019, respectively. In the world graphic design championship held on the same day, Ho Nhat Anh, also from Chu Van An High School for the Gifted, Hanoi, achieved a 5th place ranking.

These latest achievements add to Vietnam's impressive track record in the competition. In previous editions, Vietnamese contestants have collectively won a total of 28 world medals, including six gold medals.
