Eighth-grade student hospitalized after being gang-beaten by peers

An eighth-grade male student was hospitalized after being assaulted by a group of friends during a class activity.

The incident occurred around 12:30 on 27/3, during the initial 15-minute class activity in room 8.6 at Ham Chinh Junior High School, Ham Liem commune. A video of the altercation was later circulated on social media.

The school stated that it has worked with the families and students involved, initially identifying 4 students who participated in assaulting their peer due to personal conflict. The assaulted student was taken by his family to Binh Thuan General Hospital, where doctors diagnosed him with soft tissue injuries; his psychological condition is currently stable.

The school is currently coordinating with the families and the communal police to clarify the incident and will subsequently implement disciplinary measures.

According to Circular 19 from the Ministry of Education and Training, the highest form of disciplinary action within schools for students who assault peers is a written self-assessment with a commitment from the family.
