Female student's 9,5 math score halved for copying 'top scorer'

After Bac Ninh's D01 top scorer had her high school graduation exam results revoked for receiving invigilator assistance, a female student who copied from her and achieved 9,5 in math had half her points deducted.

The Bac Ninh Department of Education and Training announced its decision on 7/9 afternoon, following consultation with the Ministry of Education and Training.

Specifically, the department revoked the results of a female student who received assistance from an invigilator during the exam. This student was previously identified as the province's top scorer for the D01 combination (literature, mathematics, English) with 27,75 points.

Another student had 50% of her math score deducted, reducing it from 9,5 to 4,75, for copying answers from the aforementioned "top scorer". The department also stated that the invigilator involved would be "handled according to regulations", though it provided no further details.

In July, after the Ministry announced the high school graduation exam results, social media widely circulated information about a female student from Luong Tai High School. Reports suggested an invigilator helped her solve math and English exam questions, leading to her achieving 10 in math, 9,5 in English, and 8,25 in literature. The student then allowed another peer to copy her answers, which helped that friend score 9,5 in math, despite having average academic ability.

This year has seen the discovery of many serious high school graduation exam violations nationwide. At Tuyen Quang Specialized High School, for example, 326 candidates had to retake the graduation exam, and over 30 individuals faced prosecution for violating exam regulations. Similarly, in Quang Tri, 5 candidates at Le Truc High School had their results revoked for comparable reasons.
