The Ministry of Education and Training's 2026 admission rules include specific regulations for calculating high school graduation scores. The graduation consideration score (DXTN) is determined by combining the total scores from the four subjects students take, their average academic scores (DTB) for grades 10, 11, and 12, and any applicable priority and incentive points.
The formula for calculating 2026 high school graduation scores is as follows:

The average academic score for each school year is calculated using this formula:

The average scores for grades 10, 11, and 12 are the arithmetic mean of all subjects graded numerically, rounded to two decimal places.
Candidates can receive priority points ranging from 0,25 to 0,5. These points are awarded to students who are children of war invalids, sick soldiers, people's armed forces heroes, labor heroes, ethnic minorities, or victims of chemical defoliants. If a candidate meets multiple priority criteria, they will receive the highest applicable score, not a cumulative total.
Incentive points, ranging from one to two points, are awarded to candidates who achieve a third prize or higher in provincial-level student competitions, practical experiment exams, cultural performances, sports, or science and technology contests. Similar to priority points, students only receive the highest applicable score for one type of award.
To be recognized for high school graduation, candidates must meet all eligibility requirements and not have their exam results canceled due to disciplinary action. Additionally, they must score above one point in all subjects and achieve a graduation consideration score of 5/10 or higher.
Key dates for the 2026 high school graduation exam and university admissions
The 2026 high school graduation exam will take place over two days, on 11-12/6. Beyond serving as a criterion for graduation, these exam scores are a mandatory requirement for candidates applying to universities and colleges.
Last year, approximately 99,2% of over 1,12 million 12th-grade students successfully passed the high school graduation exam. More than 8.800 students failed and are eligible to retake the exam if they wish.
