Hanoi's 10th-grade mathematics exam for 2026 has been completed by over 124,000 students, marking the end of the common entrance exams for public non-specialized high schools. The exam, which took place yesterday, required candidates to answer five questions within 120 minutes. Prior to mathematics, students completed the literature and foreign language (primarily English) exams.
Admission scores are calculated as the total points from these three subjects, without any multipliers, with a maximum possible score of 30. The exam paper for mathematics is shown below:

Nearly 17,000 candidates who registered for four specialized schools will proceed to take additional subject-specific exams on 1/6. These specialized subjects include: mathematics, informatics, physics, chemistry, biology, literature, history, geography, and foreign languages (English, Chinese, French, Russian, Japanese, Korean). Exam scores and benchmark admission scores for all categories are expected to be announced from 19 to 22/6.
This year, among 147,000 Hanoi students graduating from lower secondary school, over 124,000 registered for the 10th-grade entrance exam, making it the highest number nationwide. With an enrollment target of approximately 82,660 for public schools, the admission rate based on the number of candidates is 66%. For students not admitted to public schools, nearly 90 private schools have been allocated over 34,000 10th-grade enrollment slots. This, combined with the system of vocational education and continuing education centers, is sufficient to meet the high school education needs of the remaining students.
