Professor Nguyen Huu Tu, Rector of Hanoi Medical University, announced on 17/4 that the university recently signed a five-year memorandum of understanding with Peking University (Bac Dai), an institution ranked among the top 15 globally by QS and THE.
The agreement outlines cooperation in several key areas: faculty and student exchanges, master's and doctoral training, joint scientific research and clinical trials, sharing of learning materials, international publications, and training experience.
"This collaboration opens up significant opportunities between Hanoi Medical University and a world-leading institution, one that shares many similarities and is geographically close, with support and prioritization from both governments," Professor Tu stated.
Numerous Vietnamese universities also signed cooperation agreements with Peking University and Tsinghua University during the state visit of General Secretary and President To Lam to China from 14-17/4.
In addition to areas similar to Hanoi Medical University's agreement, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City and Peking University discussed developing dual degree and minor programs, mutual credit recognition, and enhancing short-term academic and research programs.
Hanoi University of Science and Technology's agreement focuses on its areas of strength, such as engineering, technology, data science, innovation, and high-quality human resource training. This university also signed cooperation agreements with two other institutions: Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and Donghua University.
Meanwhile, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) signed four agreements with Tsinghua University, Fudan University, Guangxi University, and the Diplomatic Academy of China. Member universities, such as the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, will enhance training linkages and research cooperation with the School of Foreign Languages at Peking University, and in fields like political science, international relations, and linguistics with Tsinghua University.
On the morning of 17/4, Tsinghua University announced on its Fanpage that it had signed eight agreements with five Vietnamese universities.

Earlier, at the Higher Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation Cooperation forum on 14/4, Vietnamese universities signed 52 cooperation agreements. Besides Hanoi Medical University and Hanoi University of Science and Technology, these included the two national universities, National Economics University, Thuy Loi University, CMC University, and British University Vietnam, among others.
Chinese higher education has made strong advancements, particularly over the past 10 years. Currently, about 100 universities from China are featured in prestigious global rankings, notably including Tsinghua, Peking, Fudan, Shanghai Jiao Tong, Zhejiang, and Nanjing Universities.
