The Department of Education and Training announced this on the afternoon of 1/6, but did not specify the number of affected exam papers or test centers.
Ho Tan Minh, Chief of Office of the Department, stated that during the distribution of exam papers to candidates, some rooms at various test centers found faulty papers with missing text on pages 2 and 3. Invigilators recorded the incident in a report and opened backup exam papers for distribution to candidates.
"Thanks to immediate detection, before the exam clock started, this error did not affect the candidates' examination process," Minh said.
On the first exam day, 611 students were absent, thereby losing their opportunity to enroll in public grade 10 schools. Two other candidates were disqualified for using unauthorized materials and violating regulations.
Additionally, the Department noted that at Ha Huy Tap Secondary School in Dong Hung Thuan Ward and Dang Tan Tai Secondary School in Phuoc Long Ward, a few candidates experienced health issues and had to go to the medical room for 5-10 minutes. As these issues originated from the candidates, no additional time was granted.
At Phong Phu Secondary School in Binh Hung Commune, one student used a hearing aid in the exam room without prior notification to the invigilators. Professional staff recorded the incident, allowed the candidate to continue using the device, and requested a disability certificate after the exam concluded.
After the first exam day, candidates largely found the literature and English exams easier than previous years, expressing confidence in achieving good scores.
Tomorrow, candidates will take the mathematics exam, which lasts 120 minutes. Those aspiring to specialized classes will take an additional corresponding subject exam, lasting 150 minutes.
