Many medical and technical schools consider Hanoi National University of Education competency assessment exam scores

The number of universities using Hanoi National University of Education's SPT competency assessment exam scores for admissions has increased by 13 compared to last year, including new medical schools.

Hanoi National University of Education on 5/3 announced a list of 38 universities that will utilize results from the SPT competency assessment exam for their 2026 admissions. This represents an increase of 13 institutions from last year, notably including many technical and medical-pharmaceutical schools, a shift from previous years when primarily teacher training institutions used these scores.

In the medical-pharmaceutical sector, three universities are now incorporating SPT results: Buon Ma Thuot Medical and Pharmaceutical University, Tokyo Medical University, and Thai Binh Medical and Pharmaceutical University. While Thai Binh Medical and Pharmaceutical University has used these scores for several years, the other two are new additions to the list.

For the technical and technology sector, several institutions will consider SPT scores this year for the first time, including Cryptography Technical Academy, University of Transport Technology, and Dong A University of Technology.

Conversely, Hanoi National University of Education 2 has discontinued using these exam results, as the school now organizes its own separate admissions exam.

Hanoi National University of Education first organized the competency assessment exam in 2022, with approximately 2,400 candidates. Last year, nearly 17,500 candidates participated.

This year, the SPT exam will be held in two phases, on 23-24/5 and 30-31/5. Expected exam locations include Hanoi, Son La, Cao Bang, Quang Ninh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Da Nang, and Gia Lai. Candidates can register to take 3-7 subjects from the following: Mathematics, Literature, English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Geography, Informatics, Technology, and Economic and Legal Education. The exam fee per subject is 250,000 dong.

Exam scores will be announced before 15/6.
