On 25/12, the Military Technical Academy (MTA) held a graduation ceremony for 520 students from Course 56 and related programs.
Among them, only 53 individuals, or 10,2%, achieved a "good" rating, with no students graduating with an "outstanding" classification. Compared to last year, the number of "good" degrees increased by 5, but the overall percentage decreased by 2,6% due to a larger graduating class. The majority of students were rated "fair" (72,7%), "average", or "fair-average".
The valedictorian was Nguyen Huy Thanh, 23, from Bac Ninh, a student specializing in Weapons, who achieved an overall grade point average of 8,69/10. Thanh also distinguished himself by winning 7 national and military Olympic awards in Physics, Mechanics, and Russian.
According to students, achieving a "good" degree at the academy is challenging, as the institution implements five comprehensive output standards. These include specialized knowledge and skills, foreign language proficiency, basic information technology application, physical fitness, and adherence to military regulations and conduct.
Tran Thi Thanh Thoai, a "good" graduate, explained that female students must meet 4 out of 5 physical fitness requirements. These include a 1.500m run, a 100m run, a long jump, swimming, and push-ups. Swimming is a mandatory component.
A representative from the Training Department stated that the five output standards have been in place for 6 years. In addition to these standards, students must complete and defend a thesis, and pass graduation exams for Party and political work modules.
Some lecturers noted that the living and learning environment is rigorous due to its unique military nature, demanding continuous focus and perseverance. Consequently, students find it difficult to achieve high academic results.
Beyond military schools, few universities lack outstanding graduates, primarily in the medical field. For example, last year, Hanoi Medical University and the Vietnam National Institute of Traditional Medicine recorded "good" as their highest graduate classification.

Lieutenant General, Professor, Doctor Le Minh Thai, the academy's Director, commended the efforts of the new engineers, particularly given that this course was affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Mr. Thai emphasized that in the context of national digital transformation and the demands for scientific, technological, and educational development outlined in Resolutions 57 and 71, military engineers today must possess more than pure technical expertise.
"Learners must have innovative thinking, self-study, and self-research capabilities to adapt and master modern science and technology," he stated.
The Military Technical Academy is a national key university, offering training in advanced fields such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Computer Science, Robotics, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), and Radar-Navigation Engineering. Admission scores for the academy consistently rank among the highest for military institutions, ranging from 26,4 to 29,25 points this year.
