Admission scores for general 10th grade classes are calculated as the sum of scores from three subjects, plus any priority or incentive points. For specialized classes, the formula involves the total score of the three aforementioned subjects with a coefficient one, combined with the specialized subject score with a coefficient two.
Last year, before the merger, out of about 76,000 candidates in the Ho Chi Minh City area, 36 achieved a perfect score in math. Approximately 63% of the exam papers scored above average, with 7 being the most common score, achieved by over 4,500 students.
The city's general 10th grade cut-off scores ranged from 10.5 to 24.5 out of 30, with Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School leading. In the specialized block, Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted's Biology class had the highest entrance score, at 37.5 out of 50 points, while other specialized classes generally required 27 or above.
