University of Information Technology expects highest benchmark score to exceed 85/100

The University of Information Technology's benchmark scores could exceed 85/100 in popular majors such as artificial intelligence and microchip design.

The University of Information Technology (UIT), Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, anticipates its highest benchmark scores will surpass 85/100 for the upcoming academic year. Popular majors such as artificial intelligence and microchip design are expected to see the most competitive scores.

Associate Professor, Doctor Nguyen Tan Tran Minh Khang, Rector of UIT, stated on 7/8 that the university received approximately 19,000 admission aspirations from nearly 9,300 candidates this year. While the number of applicants is the lowest in five years, the average score of candidates is the highest in the same period. "This indicates that UIT's appeal is shifting from quantity to quality," Khang noted.

Following three days of virtual filtering, UIT predicts benchmark scores for artificial intelligence, data science, computer science, software engineering, information security, and microchip design could exceed 85/100. These are combined admission scores, factoring in high school graduation exam results, competency assessments, and academic transcripts.

For other programs, including multimedia communications, information technology, information systems, e-commerce, computer engineering, and computer networks and data communications, the university forecasts benchmark scores primarily within the 78-85 range.

This year, UIT plans to enroll over 2,300 students. Apart from direct admission for national and international award winners, the university exclusively uses a combined admission process.

The combined admission score for UIT is calculated using the following formula:

Admission Score = Hs1 x High School Graduation Exam + Hs2 x Competency Assessment + Hs3 x Academic Transcript + Bonus Points (if any) + Priority Points (if any).

In this formula, Hs1 accounts for 47,5%, Hs2 for 47,5%, and Hs3 for 5%.

Last year, UIT's benchmark scores on a 30-point scale ranged from 24-29,6, with artificial intelligence recording the highest score.
