On 8/10, CeCe Truong officially launched her E.P, a project two years in the making. She became emotional, recounting her challenging career path and past personal struggles, including difficult friendships and relationships.
Watching her daughter from the audience, artist Cam Van could not hold back tears. "I feel for my daughter, and at the same time, I am happy to see CeCe's growth after seven years in music," the singer said.
Cam Van noted that CeCe prefers to do everything herself, avoiding bothering others. Her daughter rarely shares personal stories, often maintaining a cheerful facade that conceals deeper sadness. Recently, CeCe Truong visited a pagoda to meditate and learn emotional stability, which is when her parents realized she had been through a difficult period. Cam Van now feels at ease, seeing her daughter confront challenges and find optimism and strength.
For this new project, CeCe Truong only allowed her parents to hear the finished product. Cam Van was not upset; instead, she respected her daughter's decision, wanting CeCe to have the space to develop her creativity and establish her own style. Previously, Cam Van and her husband, drummer Khac Trieu, were protective of their daughter, fearing she would stumble in showbiz.
Saxophonist Tran Manh Tuan expressed understanding of Cam Van's feelings, as he also has a daughter pursuing music. He hopes CeCe Truong understands that her parents' worries stem from a desire for her future, not from imposing their will.
The E.P "Nhung Duong Cong Thang Hang" features four songs, three of which CeCe Truong composed herself, drawing inspiration from her personal life. Singing "Thoat" (Escape), she expressed a desire to leave behind unhappy memories that caused her pain. With "Di Di" (Go Away) and "Lua Tat" (Fire Out), she aims to present a fresh image, embracing optimism.
The young vocalist admitted feeling pressure from being labeled a "legacy artist" by the public. Despite this, she remains grateful for her family's love, which has been a major source of inspiration for her career. "My family will always be the most stable support for me to pursue my dream of becoming a singer," she stated.
CeCe Truong aims for new experiences in both her music and appearance. She cut her curly hair, which she had for many years, opting for a short style that she feels matches her current breakthrough energy. Additionally, CeCe Truong plans to collaborate with young talents in the music industry to add more diversity and increase her recognition.
Singers Dam Vinh Hung and Quang Dung praised CeCe for her professional breakthrough and the emotional depth in her voice. Actress Hien Mai, who has followed CeCe Truong from childhood, noted her growing potential to follow in her parents' footsteps.
CeCe Truong, whose real name is Truong Hoang Van Khanh, is 27 years old and hails from Ho Chi Minh City. From a young age, she and her sister were sent by their parents to study in the US.
