The self-sufficient life of artist Tieu Bao Quoc

Artist Tieu Bao Quoc, 63, hopes to stay healthy, ride his motorbike to shows daily, and live happily with his son.

Appearing at the ancestral veneration ceremony for performing arts at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Stage and Cinema on 3/10, artist Tieu Bao Quoc expressed gratitude for still being loved and remembered by his audience. The actor is known for his charming comedic style, and recently played a supporting role in the film Tu Chien Tren Khong.

For over 20 years, Tieu Bao Quoc has raised his son alone. He shared that his marriage ended due to irreconcilable differences. While he once hoped for a companion, he decided against remarrying, fearing that a partner would face too many burdens. "I chose to live alone proactively, so I don't feel sad or burdened. This allowed me to focus on raising my son", he stated.

Taking on the dual role of both father and mother, the artist works diligently and lives frugally. He often shops for groceries and cooks his own meals, avoiding unnecessary expenses. Tieu Bao Quoc continues to use his old motorbike for performances, finding joy in the audience's affection and appreciation.

Tieu Bao Quoc's son has now graduated from university and works in graphic design, able to support himself. The actor mentioned that he no longer carries a family burden, and his only wish is to see his son marry and have grandchildren.

The artist is content with his current life, enjoying stable finances and minimal worries. He is currently an actor at The Gioi Tre theater, receiving a fixed salary. Additionally, he acts in television series and sitcoms to maintain his passion for the craft and earn extra income. He has also accumulated assets, including three houses in TP HCM and two plots of land in Long An (Tay Ninh). "I am not dependent on or a burden to anyone, especially as I age and face potential illnesses", the artist stated.

Tieu Bao Quoc describes his current life using two words: "leisurely" and "self-sufficient". When he has no filming schedule, he returns to his land in Long Hau commune (Tay Ninh) to enjoy rural pleasures. The artist purchased two boats: one serves as a floating home, while the other is used for river sightseeing and fishing.

The actor's biggest concern is his health. He worries about not living long enough to be with his son. To take care of himself, the artist actively engages in sports and limits late nights and alcohol. He undergoes regular check-ups and uses folk remedies such as lemon honey and turmeric to boost his immunity. "I have no regrets in life; living fully for my profession and enjoying my family is my greatest happiness", Tieu Bao Quoc shared.

The artist, whose real name is Do Phuoc Hau, is 63 years old and hails from TP HCM. He began his career as a cai luong (Vietnamese traditional opera) artist before transitioning to drama and comedic performances. Initially, audiences called him "Bao Quoc em" (Little Bao Quoc) because of his resemblance to artist Bao Quoc. Playwright Dao Viet Anh, while working with him, bestowed upon him the stage name Tieu Bao Quoc. The artist is renowned for his natural acting style. He was a familiar face on the program Trong Nha Ngoai Pho in the 1990s.
