Behind the scenes of the Quang Tri Citadel battle film

Intense battle scenes and bomb effects from the film "Mua do" (Red Rain) are revealed in a series of behind-the-scenes photos.

40 photos taken during the film's production were displayed at the "Tri an tu khuon hinh" (Gratitude from the Frame) exhibition on 17/7 and 18/7 in Hanoi. In addition, the organizers showcased several props, costumes, and scale models of the film set.

The teaser for "Mua do" (Red Rain), directed by Dang Thai Huyen, is slated for release on 22/8.

The film is based on the novel of the same name by writer Chu Lai. The crew retained the heroic spirit of the original work but toned down the literary aspects, incorporating more realistic battle elements.

"Mua do" (Red Rain) was filmed on a 50-hectare set in Quang Tri, built on vacant land and part of the Thach Han River. Production designer Vu Viet Hung, who previously worked on the film set for "Dao, pho va piano" (Peach, Pho, and Piano), collaborated with the team.

The film features numerous large-scale scenes depicting the intensity of the 81-day battle, during which the area endured 328,000 tons of bombs and ammunition.

A scene of fire and smoke was created by Thai special effects expert Kititisak Tancharoen.

The cast of "Mua do" (Red Rain) was selected from over 300 individuals through two casting sessions in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Director Dang Thai Huyen said she prioritized finding suitable actors over famous faces.

They underwent several months of training before filming. Before each important scene, the director always held a rehearsal.

The combat vehicles and weapons were all based on real-life models and sizes.

The film crew mobilized thousands of extras for scenes depicting loved ones bidding farewell to soldiers heading off to war and evacuation scenes.

A photo titled "Khoanh khac yen lang giua chien tranh" (A Moment of Silence Amidst War) captures Tu (played by Dinh Khang) playing with a bird. The character is the youngest member of the squad, with an innocent personality.

The photo "Nu cuoi thanh co" (Smile of the Citadel) expresses the optimism of the soldiers during wartime.
