On the "Armchair Expert" podcast on 23/6, Brad Pitt shared his positive experience with Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) years ago. He described AA as a space where 30 men could share their experiences, discuss their flaws, mistakes, hopes, pains, and find humor together.
Initially, Pitt found it challenging to open up to the group, but quickly grew to appreciate the meetings. "I was a bit shy the first few times," he admitted. "But for some reason, I remember getting comfortable pretty quickly, and it became something very special to me."

Pitt became more open after a friend assured him that AA was a "safe space" to share anything. At the time, he was going through a difficult period and willing to try anything suggested to "reset" and gain clarity. AA became deeply meaningful to him.
Despite the risk of his personal struggles being revealed publicly, Pitt chose to participate. "I'm a stubborn guy," he explained. "When I make a mistake, I'm pretty good at owning it and taking responsibility. Now, I see it as a healing process, asking myself, 'What am I going to do now? How can I fix this?' to ensure it doesn't happen again. So, I'm very open about it all."
Pitt observed and learned how others in the group overcame their challenges and achieved their goals. He described the atmosphere of the meetings as comfortable and sincere. Podcast host Dax Shepard also participated in AA.
This isn't the first time Pitt has discussed his journey to sobriety. In a 2017 interview with *GQ*, he admitted to alcohol addiction and being too busy to care for his children, which contributed to his divorce from Angelina Jolie. They share six children. That same year, he reportedly attended rehab at a facility for celebrities in Hollywood.
In a 2019 *New York Times* interview, Pitt revealed he spent about a year and a half in AA after Jolie filed for divorce in 2016. "I had taken things as far as I could take it, so I removed my drinking privileges," he told the newspaper.
Pitt has regained his footing since the end of his marriage. In December 2024, he and Jolie finalized their divorce settlement after eight years of legal battles. He has recently been praised for his youthful appearance at events with his girlfriend, jewelry designer Ines de Ramon, who is 29 years his junior.
According to *Us Weekly*, Pitt has focused on work as a driving force after his family turmoil, taking on numerous acting and producing projects. He has also embraced a slower pace of life, enjoying time with longtime friends. His relationship with de Ramon has brought him peace and stability. She is described as understanding and in sync with him. The couple reportedly began dating in 2022 and made their first public appearance at the 2024 British Grand Prix.
Pitt, 62, has been a leading Hollywood actor for three decades. According to *The Numbers*, his films have earned approximately USD 5 billion at the box office. He has won numerous prestigious awards, including Oscars, Golden Globes, and BAFTAs. His latest project, *F1*, is slated for release on 27/6. Before Jolie, he was married to Jennifer Aniston from 2000 to 2005.
