Britney Spears 4 years after conservatorship

Free from her father's control, Britney Spears' life remains turbulent, marked by relationship struggles and a stalled career.

The current life of pop princess Britney Spears has drawn attention following her Instagram posts on 19/8. In one video, the singer is seen singing Rihanna's "Unfaithful" off-key, revealing a messy floor. Many fans expressed concern for Spears' mental well-being, suggesting she needs help. One commenter mentioned Spears' release from her father Jamie Spears' conservatorship in 2021, speculating that things might be worse without someone managing the artist.

Since regaining her freedom, Spears' life has continued to be a rollercoaster. In April 2022, she announced her pregnancy with her partner, actor and fitness trainer Sam Asghari, 13 years her junior. A month later, she suffered a miscarriage. The baby would have been Spears' third child and Asghari's first. She has two older sons, 20-year-old Sean Preston and 19-year-old Jayden James, with her second husband, dancer Kevin Federline.

Spears and Asghari started dating in 2016 after working together on the music video for "Slumber Party." In June 2022, the couple married at Spears’ California home. According to People, about 60 guests attended, but none of Spears' family members were present.

The marriage lasted a little over a year before Asghari filed for divorce in August 2023, finalized 9 months later. Spears expressed heartbreak over the separation from someone she had been with for so long.

Following Asghari, Spears had a publicized relationship with her housekeeper, Paul Richard Soliz, starting in 2023. According to Us Weekly, Soliz was a cause for concern and was fired after a few months when Spears' team discovered his criminal record. Sources indicated that Soliz had at least 9 children and was married during his relationship with Spears. She was often seen with his children.

In May 2024, the relationship garnered attention when Spears was seen disheveled, clutching bedding, wearing pajamas and barefoot outside the Chateau Marmont hotel in Los Angeles after midnight. She was accompanied by Soliz and her security team. Initially, reports suggested an altercation with Soliz, prompting a hotel guest to call for medical assistance, which Spears refused.

On Instagram, Spears denied any fight, claiming she had fallen while trying to jump. She accused medical personnel of illegally entering her room and blamed her mother, Lynne, for causing her injuries, without further explanation. The post was later deleted. In July 2024, the couple reportedly split but later reconciled. Page Six reported their final separation in February. There are currently no updates on Spears' romantic life.

According to Us Weekly, Spears' relationship with her family remains complex. Aside from her father and sister Jamie Lynn, she is close to her 48-year-old brother, Bryan, and her mother. In December 2024, the siblings took a trip to Mexico together. Spears reportedly remains in contact with her mother despite past conflicts. Sources suggest her team believes Lynne could provide support if Spears experiences a crisis.

She has also mended her relationship with her sons, Sean and Jayden. In 2022, Kevin Federline told the Daily Mail that his sons had cut off contact with their mother due to her posting revealing photos online. Later, on ITV News, Jayden said reconciliation was possible but would require time and effort. He also defended his grandfather regarding the conservatorship. In the interview, he addressed his mother: "I love you very much. I hope for the best for you. Maybe one day we can sit down like this again.”

Following her son's statements, Spears responded with a series of audio recordings on Instagram, criticizing Jayden's lack of respect and emphasizing her hard work to provide for them. She later deleted the post but continued to share recordings expressing her pain regarding her children.

"My love for my children is more than anything, and I'm sorry if I hurt you two. I heard you both blocked me on this account. But I'll still speak here. I'm so blessed to call you both mine, and I just want you to know I apologize," Spears said.

In 2023, Kevin Federline moved his sons and his current wife, volleyball player Victoria, to Hawaii to "escape the Los Angeles spotlight." In November 2024, People reported Jayden visited his mother. A month later, Sean also joined them for Christmas. In June, Spears posted a photo with her youngest son for Father's Day.

Regarding her career, Spears announced her retirement from music in a January 2024 post. This statement refuted reports that she had invited Charli XCX and Julia Michaels to write for a new album.

Since 2022, Spears has released two singles: "Hold Me Closer" (2022) with Elton John, and "Mind Your Business" (2023) with will.i.am. "Hold Me Closer" reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking the pop princess's return after 13 years under conservatorship. "Mind Your Business" was criticized for its explicit and nonsensical lyrics.

In 2023, she released her memoir, The Woman in Me, detailing how her father used the conservatorship to control her life, from her diet and work to her children, as well as other hidden aspects of her life as a star. A week after its release, the book became a New York Times number one bestseller, with over 1.1 million copies sold.

Born in 1981, Britney Spears is one of the most iconic musicians of the 2000s, famous for hits like "Baby One More Time," "Oops!... I Did It Again," and "Toxic." She has released 9 studio albums, won a Grammy, and 8 Billboard Music Awards. In 2008, she was placed under her father's conservatorship following a highly publicized breakdown. In November 2021, a Los Angeles court restored her full autonomy.
