According to Wenweipo, the 64-year-old singer performed three consecutive nights in Guangdong, China last weekend. During the final concert, Cheung, battling a cold and flu, experienced significant vocal issues.
Mid-performance, he paused to apologize to the audience, explaining his inability to control his vocal cords. "I really want to sing, but I can't," Cheung said, choked with emotion. Feeling deeply apologetic to his team and dancers, he offered to stop the concert and discuss compensation with the organizers.

However, the audience of over 30,000 fans encouraged him to continue, offering resounding applause and support. Cheung persevered, completing the concert before returning to Hong Kong to rest.
The performance was part of Cheung's Jacky Cheung 60+ Tour, which began in 6/2023. He has performed 277 live shows to date, averaging 10 shows per month over the past 27 months.
Throughout the two-year tour, Cheung has faced several incidents, including a fall on stage due to dizziness during a concert in Malaysia. In 3/2024, he canceled three shows in Shanghai, China due to health issues. More recently, in March of this year, three shows in Guangzhou were also canceled due to illness.
During his 40-year career, Cheung has performed over 1,000 solo live shows, the first Chinese singer to achieve this milestone. He entered the entertainment industry in 1984, earning the title "God of Songs" in Hong Kong, and was the best-selling Asian artist in 1995 and 1996. Along with Andy Lau, Leon Lai, and Aaron Kwok, he is known as one of the "Four Heavenly Kings" of Cantopop.
Between 2010 and 2012, Cheung's "½ Century Tour" was a resounding success, spanning 146 shows in 77 cities worldwide and attracting over 2.8 million attendees. In addition to singing, Cheung is a well-known actor, starring in popular films like "Swordsman" (1990), "Ashes of Time", and "Perhaps Love". He married former actress May Lo in 1996, and they have two daughters. The family maintains a private life, rarely sharing personal details.
