On 20/8, 67-year-old Ellen DeGeneres posted a video on Instagram of her partner, 52-year-old actor Portia de Rossi, riding a horse in the English countryside, stating it was Portia's dream. The post attracted thousands of comments, with many people noting the couple's idyllic lifestyle.
According to People, DeGeneres and de Rossi left the US before the presidential election in early November 2024. This move followed the conclusion of DeGeneres's final stand-up comedy tour, "Ellen's Last Stand... Up," in August 2024. Around the same time, she sold her California mansion to mining billionaire Robert Friedland for 96 million USD.
In July, DeGeneres gave an interview at the Everyman Theatre in England, her first public appearance in nearly a year since retiring. During the program, the former talk show host admitted to moving because of Donald Trump's second election victory but didn't elaborate. DeGeneres and de Rossi currently reside in the Cotswolds, a popular area for celebrities like the Beckhams, supermodel Kate Moss, and former British Prime Minister David Cameron.

"We're not used to this much beauty," DeGeneres said about her new home. "The villages, the towns, and the architecture – it's all very charming with a simple way of life. It's very clean here. Everything's better, like the way they treat animals and each other with politeness. I just love it here."
Last month, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported that the couple listed Kitesbridge Farm, a property they briefly lived in for a month upon arriving in England last year, for 30 million USD. DeGeneres subsequently moved to a larger property to accommodate their livestock. "When we decided to live here, we both knew Portia couldn't live without horses," she told WSJ. "So, we needed a house with a farm and pastures for them."
In addition to horses, DeGeneres and de Rossi raise sheep, chickens, and dogs. The former talk show host frequently posts videos on social media of herself tending to the animals, pruning trees in the garden, and mowing the lawn. Fans have expressed that they miss her shows but are happy to see her enjoying a peaceful life.
Born in 1958, DeGeneres is a leading television personality in the US. She rose to fame as a comedian, launching her popular talk show, "The Ellen Show," in 2003. She has hosted the Academy Awards, the Grammys, and the Primetime Emmys. In 2016, she received the Presidential Medal of Freedom. After 19 years, DeGeneres concluded "The Ellen Show" in May 2021.
She and de Rossi first met backstage at a Rock the Vote concert in 2001 and married in August 2008 after same-sex marriage was legalized in California. They chose not to have children, declining in vitro fertilization. In 2015, DeGeneres stated on the "Today Show" that she wasn't ready to become a parent.
Over two decades together, the couple has weathered various breakup rumors and challenges. In 2020, DeGeneres faced allegations of workplace misconduct from some staff members. Despite a lack of evidence, many people left negative comments on her social media. "I don't know how I would have gotten through it without Portia," DeGeneres told People in 2020.
According to Forbes, DeGeneres's net worth was estimated at 450 million USD as of June. In addition to her successful entertainment career, she has made significant income through real estate and business ventures. In 2015, she launched her lifestyle brand, ED, which sells furniture and home decor.
