34-year-old Steven Nguyen (birth name Nguyen Huy), a Ho Chi Minh City native, embarked on his acting career at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Theater and Cinema. After his first year, he deferred his studies to fulfill his military service. Upon returning to university, he supplemented his income by working at a theater, taking on minor roles and working as a ticket-taker.
His breakthrough came in 2021 with the web drama "Bi Long dai ca". This led to numerous casting calls, including one for "Mua do". Initially, Nguyen declined the role due to scheduling conflicts. However, encouraged by his manager, he flew to Hanoi for the audition and secured the part. Although slightly disappointed to learn it was a villainous role, Nguyen embraced the challenge, immersing himself in the character's psychology and undergoing rigorous physical training.
For Nguyen, Quang represents a part of the nation's historical scars. He believes the character reflects a generation of young people caught in the throes of war and forced to bear arms. "Mua do has opened many doors and brought me greater recognition," Nguyen shared. "Following this project, I hope to showcase my versatility in a variety of roles, both leading and supporting."
