According to Variety on 15/6, one of the two deleted scenes is a 33-second intimate moment between Superman and Lois Lane. A representative of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) stated that the segments were deemed inappropriate for local cultural standards. The CBFC also assigned a 13+ rating (for viewers 13 years and older) before the film's release on 11/7.

This decision sparked a wave of disapproval from the audience, who criticized the CBFC's censorship criteria as inconsistent and conservative. On X (formerly Twitter), Indian actress Shreya Dhanwanthary, known for her roles in Scam 1992 and The Family Man, wrote, "This is absurd",. Content creator Amol Jamwal commented, "Indian film Housefull 5 has excessive jokes, and Jaat But is full of bloody scenes, but Superman kissing Lois Lane is considered too much?".
Currently, the CBFC and Warner Bros. Discovery have not responded to the incident. Previously, the CBFC sparked controversy when it replaced an image in Brad Pitt's F1 movie. Thunderbolts, upon its release in India, had its audio muted in several dialogues containing sensitive words. The blockbuster Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning was also asked to remove some words considered "obscene".

In 2021, the Indian government dissolved the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal, preventing filmmakers from appealing to the responsible authority. The only remaining option is to file a lawsuit in the high court. This is a costly and lengthy process, especially for international studios with plans to release their work in multiple markets.
According to Deadline, despite the censorship issues, Superman is leading the Indian box office with over 31 crore rupees (approximately 96 billion Vietnamese dong), making it the highest-grossing opening for a DC film in the country. The blockbuster is being shown in Indian theaters in various languages, including English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
"Superman" is set in a world rife with conflict. Superman, an alien, tries to integrate into human society disguised as journalist Clark Kent. However, he is looked down upon by many for failing to protect them from danger. When Lex Luthor plots to take over the world, Superman defies the rules, seeking to prove his ability to help humanity.
The film effectively portrays the character, staying true to the original spirit. David Corenswet's performance is praised for bringing warmth and composure to the character, reminiscent of Christopher Reeve's acting style. He creates a more relatable and empathetic hero compared to previous versions. However, some critics find the script convoluted, blending many elements that make it difficult for viewers to focus.
