Interviewed by JTBC in South Korea in early April during the promotion of his new film "Silent Friend", Luong Trieu Vy reflected on his career milestones. When asked about his happiest and most joyful period in his work, the actor stated that each stage brought different joys, but his happiest time was the 20 years collaborating with Vuong Gia Ve.
Luong Trieu Vy explained, "My way of thinking and his are similar. Indeed, during that period, I honed the acting skills I aspired to." The actor considers "In the Mood for Love", also directed by Vuong Gia Ve, his most iconic work. This film earned Luong Trieu Vy the Best Actor award at the Cannes Film Festival and other accolades. "In the Mood for Love" remains unforgettable for Luong Trieu Vy because its setting mirrors the era of his youth and growth. Filming transported him back to his adolescence, with the people, fashion, and lighting reminiscent of his childhood memories.

The actor and Vuong Gia Ve collaborated since the 1990s, creating classic films such as: "A Fei Chinh Truyen", "Dong Ta Tay Doc", "Trung Khanh Sam Lam", "Xuan Quang Xa Tiet", and "Nhat Dai Tong Su". In 2018, Luong Trieu Vy concluded his contract with Vuong Gia Ve's company, Jet Tone Film Production. At that time, the director posted on Weibo: "Many years ago, a friend entrusted Luong Trieu Vy to us. Many years later, we return a perfected Luong Trieu Vy. A glorious chapter. We did not betray that trust; it is immensely fulfilling."
In Vuong Gia Ve's films, the actor conveyed profound inner emotions through his gaze. During the interview, when asked if he ever found his own eyes captivating, Luong Trieu Vy responded that he was not entirely sure. He explained, "Normally, I speak little, keeping many things to myself. Perhaps that is why you perceive my inner world through my eyes, while my body language is less prominent. I value the internal world." Now over 60 years old, Luong Trieu Vy feels "a little more mature", with a different outlook on life compared to before, no longer clinging to many matters. He is passionate about his work and has not considered retirement, with colleagues often telling him, "There's no retirement in this profession."
His new film, "Silent Friend", premiered globally on 7/4. In it, he portrays an Asian scientist stranded in Germany who uncovers a mystery within an ancient ginkgo tree on a university campus, leading him to conduct experiments on it. Luong Trieu Vy stated that the most crucial aspect when joining the film crew was to believe he was a neurologist. Consequently, he read specialized books and conversed with scientists to immerse himself in the character. The actor has also contemplated his final work, hoping it conveys a message of love. He shared, "I hope my last film will be truly moving and heartwarming, making viewers feel that life has meaning. Like 'What a Wonderful World' by Italian director Frank Capra. Every Christmas, I rewatch it; it's a comedy, but I cry while watching it because I feel the love."
