According to the Orange County Clerk of Court website, the court has accepted Lynda Trang Dai's request to participate in the Pre-Trial Diversion (PTD) program. The singer will complete training, perform community service, and compensate the plaintiff in lieu of a trial.
In January, Ngo Lynda Trang Dai Le, known professionally as Lynda Trang Dai, was accused of stealing merchandise valued between 100 and 750 USD (2.5 - 18.8 million VND) from a Gucci store in Florida.
In late February, the singer addressed the incident, explaining that she inadvertently took the wrong box containing 330 USD AirPods while rushing to a performance, leading to the "petty theft" accusation.
On 14/8, Dai and her lawyer filed a motion to dismiss the current case, as she is applying for and intends to complete the PTD program.
Under Section 8, Chapter 948 of Florida Statutes, the PTD program offers certain first-time or low-level offenders an alternative to criminal prosecution. This program reduces the burden on the court system while ensuring accountability and providing an opportunity for offenders to rectify their behavior without a criminal record.
Participants must adhere to specific conditions, potentially including counseling, community service, restitution, rehabilitation, or legal education courses, and comply with supervision. Upon successful completion, the prosecutor will drop or decline to file charges.
