National concert retraces 80 years of Vietnam's history

A national concert at My Dinh National Stadium revisited Vietnam's journey from its early days of independence to peacetime.

The program, titled "80 Years of Independence - Freedom - Happiness", took place on the evening of 1/9. In the first chapter, "The Path to Independence - Unification", artists commemorated the losses and sacrifices made leading up to the August Revolution of 1945.

Artist Dang Duong (center) sings "August Nineteenth" (composed by Xuan Oanh). The song concludes with a reminder: "August Nineteenth, do not forget the day of the uprising/ Happiness shines brightly on Vietnam", expressing optimism and faith in the nation's future.

The pride of reunification and a unified nation was conveyed through songs like "Liberation of South Vietnam" (composed by Huynh Minh Sieng) and "The Country's Complete Joy" (composed by Hoang Ha).

The performances were grandly staged, with hundreds of dancers participating alongside the choir and orchestra.

Singer Nguyen Hung (left) received enthusiastic applause from the audience while performing "What Could Be More Beautiful" - a song inspired by the film about the Quang Tri Citadel battle - "Red Rain". When he sang "After so many years, we finally have peace", the audience sang along.

The audience cheered as the cast of the film "Red Rain" appeared on stage.

Soobin sang "Glory Awaits Us", speaking to the desire to conquer new heights.

Diem Hang Lamoon and singer Hoang Bach sang "Welcome to Vietnam", an invitation to experience the people and the country.

Soldiers appeared in the final segment of the program. As the "Tien Quan Ca" (composed by Van Cao) played, singer Trong Tan sang with the symphony orchestra. The audience sang along.
