Ngo Thanh Van celebrates upcoming arrival of first child

Ngo Thanh Van and her husband, Huy Tran, hosted a baby shower on 22/6 to celebrate their daughter, nicknamed Gao, who is due soon.

The intimate celebration took place at a restaurant, attended by family and close friends. Ngo Thanh Van wore a flowing, pastel pink gown adorned with 3D floral embroidery. The event decor featured pastel pink hues and a board for guests to write letters and offer well wishes to the director.

Friends and colleagues took photos with the couple at a photo booth. Singer Jun Pham and film producer Thai Ba Dung livened up the party with games. Jun Pham, Ngo Thanh Van's mentee, shared his joy at feeling baby Gao's kicks. "I wish Van and Gao good health," the singer wrote.

In the final stages of her pregnancy, the director has experienced health complications, including cholestasis, which has caused an itchy rash. Despite multiple doctor visits, her condition has not improved. She is also at risk of gestational diabetes and must limit her intake of high-glycemic carbohydrates and follow a low-sodium diet. She monitors her blood sugar regularly before and after meals to avoid complications.

She is grateful for her husband's support throughout her pregnancy. He helps her maintain a liver-detoxifying diet and prepares meals with minimal seasoning. Huy Tran cooks her favorite southern Vietnamese dishes, along with a variety of European and Asian cuisine.

Ngo Thanh Van, 46, is an actress, film producer, director, and entrepreneur. She earned the nickname "da nu" (female action star) after the success of the film The Rebel (2007), co-starring Johnny Tri Nguyen. In the 2010s, she transitioned to film production, with credits including Tam Cam: The Untold Story, Co Ba Sai Gon, and Song Lang. In 2019, Furie, which she produced and starred in, grossed over 200 billion VND and was Vietnam's entry for the "Best International Feature Film" category at the 2022 Oscars.

The actress and Huy Tran, who is 11 years younger, married in Da Nang in 5/2022 after two years of dating. In early May, celebrating their 1,000th day of marriage, she announced her pregnancy after undergoing IVF.
