The couple, who first met over 30 years ago as music students, had a brief romance in their youth. Two years ago, following personal setbacks, they reconnected, with Thanh offering support during a difficult time. "He soothed the loneliness and hurt I felt after my previous relationship ended. He made me feel like opening my heart again was worthwhile," Nhung said.

Nhung describes her husband as intelligent, understanding, and humorous. While musically inclined, he pursued a career in business. They have a one-month-old son together. Nhung also has two children from previous relationships: a 6-year-old daughter and a 13-year-old son.

A graduate of the Hanoi College of Arts, Nhung gained recognition in the 2004 Sao Mai Diem Hen singing competition. After a period of working in Vietnam, she moved to the US. In 2010, she married Quy Nguyen, the younger brother of overseas Vietnamese singer Trizzie Phuong Trinh. They divorced in 2013. Nhung then lived with businessman Minh Quan for almost four years, announcing their separation in 9/2019.

The singer has released albums such as Niem Dau Da Qua, Di Vang Cuoc Tinh, and Love Song - Moc. In 2019, after 14 years abroad, she returned to Vietnam for a concert and a new album release.
