Nicholas Tse expresses love for Faye Wong with guitar engraving

Hong Kong singer Nicholas Tse engraved a symbol of his love for Faye Wong on his guitar.

Photos of the singer holding the guitar at a live show in Guangzhou, China on 23/9 were shared by tens of thousands of fans on Weibo. Fans noticed the engraving matched a tattoo on Wong's back. Tse also has a similar tattoo in the same location.

According to Sohu, Wong and Tse got matching butterfly tattoos in Paris, France in 2000. The couple considers the butterfly a symbol of their love and a lifelong commitment, signifying "no matter what happens, we will always find each other".

The relationship between Wong and Tse has been a major focus of the Chinese entertainment industry. At 20, Tse began dating the then 31-year-old singer. The age gap fueled much gossip.

The two split in 2002. Tse then married Cecilia Cheung, divorcing in 2011. Wong married Li Yapeng, divorcing in 2013. Tse and Wong rekindled their romance in 2014.

While initially private, the couple has become more open about their relationship. Since last year, they have been seen holding hands in public. In April, Wong supported Tse at his live show in Hong Kong.

Eleven years into their rekindled relationship, the couple chooses not to marry, considering each other soulmates. Tse, who is allergic to cats, takes allergy medication to accommodate Wong's love for the animals. He also learned to cook vegan dishes for her. Wong, known for her healthy lifestyle, has adapted to Tse's habits.

Wong has largely been absent from the entertainment scene in recent years, only occasionally performing at major events. Her most recent public appearance was at CCTV's 2025 New Year's Gala. Wong remains a significant figure in contemporary Chinese music. Renwu magazine noted that no one has surpassed her achievements, and it's unlikely another singer with her unique, inimitable voice will emerge.

Tse entered the entertainment industry at 15. A talented songwriter, he has won numerous Most Popular Male Singer awards. He is also known for his roles in films like "Invisible Target," "The Bullet Vanishes," "The Promise," "Shaolin," "New Police Story," "The Storm Warriors 2," and "Raging Fire." According to Mirror Media, Tse's business ventures have contributed to a net worth exceeding 130 million USD.
