Orange transforms at Em xinh say hi

Singer Orange raps and shows off dynamic dance moves - something she rarely did in 10 years of singing - at the hit music show.

When accepting the invitation to join the show with 29 colleagues, Orange said she maintained a relaxed attitude, not a competitive one.

The audience felt Orange deserved the result due to her consistent performance, shining in many acts. She said, "Participating in the show was my best decision in my career. For the past three months, I've been happy to show the audience many new things about myself,".

Orange rocks the stage in Morse Code - a group performance at the final round.

Through each round, Orange also transformed her image with a strong, "quirky" style, different from her previous gentle image.

Her real name is Khuong Hoan My. The 28-year-old, from TP HCM, gained attention when competing in Nhan to bi an 2014 (X-Factor) on Ho Ngoc Ha's team. Audiences remember Orange through the hit Nguoi la oi - sung with Superbrothers and Karik, released in 2018, which has over 214 million views. At the end of 2018, she attended the MAMA (Mnet Asian Music Awards) and won the Best New Asian Artist award. In 2019, she won the Best New Asian Artist award at the Hong Kong Asian-Pop Music Festival.

Orange has released songs like Em hat ai nghe (Trungg I.U), Khi em lon (self-composed), which have all achieved high viewership, topping YouTube's trending music charts. In 12/2023, she was the runner-up in the Ca si mat na program.

Khong dau nua roi - a beloved performance on the show with nearly one billion listens and views across multiple platforms.

Orange (second from left) admits to confronting her emotions, revealing things she had hidden for a long time. Singing Khong dau nua roi, Orange shared that she had gone through the heartbreak of love. She put her heart into every lyric, happy to hear the audience say they found resonance with the song.

On the final stage, Orange shared that three years ago, she was in a deep pit, facing many difficulties in both work and love life. "Now, I have escaped those negative emotions. The love from the audience and my sisters on the show has encouraged me a lot," the singer said.

Over 14 episodes, the singer participated in many performances that garnered millions of views, such as Dong dao xinh gai, Cu do tai con mua, and I'll Be There. She demonstrated solid songwriting skills by contributing to all of her team's tracks and several other hits within the program.

Team captains often fought over Orange for their teams, highly valuing her talent. Phuong My Chi once commented, "You are my idol among the Gen Z stars," when persuading Orange during Live Stage 2. While 52Hz said that she and Orange shared the same frequency, making them a great match for collaboration.

The singer experimented with various genres like hip hop and electronic music, alongside her strengths in ballad and R&B. Orange also showcased dynamic dance moves and rapping - something she rarely did before.

She said she was once saddened by comments about her saying, "She should just sing, she can't do anything else,". Through the show, she wanted to do the opposite, showcasing her versatility.

The singer displays her versatility in the Dong dao xinh gai performance with Miu Le, Vu Thao My, Quynh Anh Shyn, and My My.

Orange also revealed her humorous personality through interactions with MC Tran Thanh and playful banter with contestants backstage. She admitted to being reserved before, but through the show, she gradually opened up.

Currently, Orange and 29 other "em xinh" are rehearsing for the first Em xinh say hi concert, which will take place on 13/9 in TP HCM.

The Em xinh say hi show aims to "find the next generation of female idols in Vietnamese music" and has been airing since mid-year. 30 contestants are divided into alliances, directly competing through performances in the style of music groups. After 14 episodes, the winner was Phuong My Chi, and the runner-up was LyHan. The three remaining members in the Best 5 lineup - the Em xinh All-Star Group - are Bich Phuong, Orange, and Lamoon.

The program is considered one of the highlights of the music scene so far this year. The contestants created many explosive performances, generating significant discussion on digital platforms.
