Before departing Vietnam, the Bhutanese King took time to visit Ha Long Bay on 21/8. King Wangchuck, his wife, and their three children opted for casual, comfortable attire. He chose a polo shirt, navy blue pants, and sneakers. The Queen consistently supports local handmade garments. She is also close friends with renowned French designer Christian Louboutin. The "King of Red Soles" collaborated with the Bhutan Artisan School for three years to design a series of wooden wedge shoes featuring traditional Himalayan colors.

King Jigme Khesar married Queen Jetsun Pema in 10/2011, making her the youngest queen in the world at the age of 21. Queen Jetsun, now 35, is 10 years younger than her husband and holds degrees in psychology and art history from Regent's University London. Fluent in English and Hindi, she is a patron of numerous organizations focused on conservation, the environment, and disability support.
