Queen Jetsun Pema's elegant wardrobe during Vietnam visit

Queen Jetsun Pema of Bhutan opted for understated colors and patterns during her three-day visit to Vietnam with her husband.

The Bhutanese King and Queen visited Vietnam from 18-22/8 at the invitation of President Luong Cuong and his wife.

During her visit to Vietnam, Queen Jetsun Pema wore outfits featuring pale tones and simple patterns. She minimized her jewelry, wearing only earrings and a small necklace. This style was noted as softer compared to the vibrant colors and ornate patterns she typically wears in Bhutan. According to Vogue, neutral and subtle tones create a sense of humility and tranquility, while bright, multicolored patterns tend to attract more attention. Image: Dailybhutan

Before departing Vietnam, the Bhutanese King took time to visit Ha Long Bay on 21/8. King Wangchuck, his wife, and their three children opted for casual, comfortable attire. He chose a polo shirt, navy blue pants, and sneakers. Queen Jetsun Pema wore a light green floral maxi dress and wedge espadrilles. 9-year-old Prince Jigme Namgyel and 5-year-old Prince Jigme Ugyen both wore white shirts, Bermuda shorts, and Crocs. The King's youngest child, a princess, wore a floral dress. Image: Sea Star Cruise

According to Tatler, Queen Jetsun Pema is often praised not only for her beauty and kindness but also for her elegance. She is considered a fashion icon in Bhutan due to her sophisticated style, which has a significant influence on Bhutanese women. At home, she is often seen wearing elaborate kiras and occasionally expensive jewelry for important occasions.

On 19/8, President Luong Cuong and his wife hosted a state banquet to welcome the King and Queen of Bhutan. Queen Jetsun (left) wore her hair in a bun and chose a red dress and coat—a color suitable for grand occasions. Image: TTXVN

The Queen consistently supports local handmade garments. She is also close friends with renowned French designer Christian Louboutin. The "King of Red Soles" collaborated with the Bhutan Artisan School for three years to design a series of wooden wedge shoes featuring traditional Himalayan colors.

On the same day, Queen Jetsun and the President's wife visited and offered incense at Tran Quoc Pagoda in Hanoi. She chose a jade green ensemble, consisting of a kira and a toego. Image: Dailybhutan

Upon arrival at Noi Bai Airport, the Queen chose a light pink traditional outfit coordinating with her husband's Gho, and nude-colored shoes. She wore her hair down with natural makeup. Image: TTXVN

King Jigme Khesar married Queen Jetsun Pema in 10/2011, making her the youngest queen in the world at the age of 21. Queen Jetsun, now 35, is 10 years younger than her husband and holds degrees in psychology and art history from Regent's University London. Fluent in English and Hindi, she is a patron of numerous organizations focused on conservation, the environment, and disability support.
