In 2017, Brosnahan landed the lead role in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Set in 1950s New York, the series follows Miriam "Midge" Maisel, a housewife who discovers her talent for stand-up comedy and pursues it despite societal gender biases.

The role garnered her an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, two Golden Globes, and other accolades. She shared with Variety that her exposure to Jewish culture from a young age informed her portrayal of Mrs. Maisel.
