Born in 1960, Kieu Nga is the younger sister of renowned singer Elvis Phuong. She began singing as a student at Le Quy Don High School in Ho Chi Minh City. From the mid-1980s to the early 1990s, she was admired by audiences both in Vietnam and abroad. Along with Ngoc Lan, Kieu Nga was known as the "New Wave Queen" of that era. She became known to domestic audiences through the "Love Medley" series recorded with singers Ngoc Lan and Trung Hanh overseas.
The most challenging time for Kieu Nga was when her close friend and singing partner, Ngoc Lan, passed away. She described this event as a devastating emotional blow, making her reluctant to perform for fear of facing the permanent loss of her soulmate.
