Anh Phuong Hung, son of renowned singer Elvis Phuong and Kieu Nga's nephew, said, "Before she passed, some colleagues, including Trizzie Phuong Trinh, visited her. When her heartbeat became very weak, the doctor called her family in and informed them she only had a few hours left. At that time, the family gathered, chanted prayers, and decided to remove her ventilator so she could pass away peacefully."
Kieu Nga was hospitalized on 6/7 due to a brain hemorrhage and underwent surgery. Afterwards, she fell into a deep coma with no signs of regaining consciousness. Before her illness, at 65, she was still performing and active. The singer returned to Vietnam for shows in 2015 and 2017 in Ho Chi Minh City.

Born in 1960, Kieu Nga was the younger sister of famed singer Elvis Phuong. She began singing as a student at Le Quy Don High School in Ho Chi Minh City. From the mid-1980s to the early 1990s, she was admired by audiences both domestically and internationally. Along with Ngoc Lan, Kieu Nga was known as the "New Wave Queen" of that era. She was well-known in Vietnam for her appearances in the "Love Medley" series recorded with singers Ngoc Lan and Trung Hanh overseas.
The most difficult time for Kieu Nga was when her close singing partner, Ngoc Lan, passed away. She described this event as a mental shock, making her reluctant to perform for fear of facing the feeling of permanently losing a kindred spirit.
