‘Stars join the army’ concert tells soldiers’ stories

Tens of thousands of emotional audience members sang along with singers in timeless songs about the country and the lives of soldiers.

The concert, held at the Creative Park in Ho Chi Minh City on the evening of 24/8, attracted nearly 20,000 spectators. The almost four-hour program was divided into four chapters, recreating images of soldiers, from their first steps into the army to the aspirations of today's youth.

In the opening act, 200 officers and soldiers from the Army, Air Defense-Air Force, Special Forces, and Navy appeared on stage, marching to the tune of “Forever sing the military march” (composed by Diep Minh Tuyen).

The artists recreated images of 18- and 20-year-old men leaving their families and crossing the Truong Son range to go to war, through the song “Footsteps on the Truong Son range - I am extraordinary” (Vu Trong Hoi - Bui Cong Nam).

50 special forces soldiers also performed combat skills such as breaking bricks with their hands, jumping through rings of fire, and climbing walls, exciting the audience.

Soobin performed “Dancing in the Dark” with actress Yen Dan. The image of a girl giving a handkerchief to her lover before he goes to battle evoked emotion in the viewers.

Rapper Phao, singers Trang Phap, Chi Pu, Huong Giang Idol, and actresses Hau Hoang and Ninh Duong Lan Ngoc portrayed girls amidst the smoke and fire of the battlefield in the song “The girl who opened the way” (Xuan Giao).

Young vocalists performed the lively melody of “Spring in the war zone” (Xuan Hong).

Following the performance, several former officers and veterans appeared in a documentary film talking about the sacrifices of their comrades, mothers, and wives on the home front. The story of Nguyen Thi Xun, wife of martyr Tran Van Kinh, brought tears to the audience's eyes.

Truc Nhan sang about the joy of an independent and unified country in the medley “Hue - Saigon - Hanoi, As if Uncle Ho is present on the day of great victory” (Trinh Cong Son - Pham Tuyen). Tens of thousands of audience members sang along with the singer.

Truc Nhan said, "If someone asks if young people love their country like the previous generation, I affirm that 'yes'. We love our country by living honestly, working diligently, learning, and silently contributing."
