Scripted by author Chu Lai, the film follows the campaign to defend the Quang Tri Citadel. Filming began on 2/11/2024 and wrapped on 21/1 of this year, totaling 81 days, coinciding with the duration the People's Army of Vietnam fought to defend the citadel in 1972. The author submitted the script to the People's Army Cinema in 2012, but the studio didn't receive project approval and the resources to produce the film until 2023.

Le Ha Anh feels fortunate to have the opportunity to participate in a historical film, a departure from her previous roles. To prepare for the role, she spent months learning to navigate a ferry, enduring sun and rain alongside the crew on set.

According to the actress, the most challenging scene was when Hong clutches Cuong's backpack at the end of the film, requiring extensive emotional depth. She even fainted while filming a rain-soaked scene that lasted several hours.
