According to the New York Post, the 79-year-old director hosted Barack and Michelle Obama on his superyacht, the Seven Seas, off the coast of Portofino last weekend. On 19/9, the former first lady arrived a day before her husband, having lunch with Spielberg and his wife, 72-year-old actress Kate Capshaw.

On the evening of 20/9, the 64-year-old former president arrived with his security detail. He and his wife spent the night on the yacht, enjoying breakfast and lunch with the Spielbergs. Paparazzi captured photos of the group engaging in lively conversation.
Spielberg and Obama are longtime friends. In 2015, Obama awarded Spielberg the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian honor, praising the filmmaker for creating "movies that have shaped America's story."

The gathering also drew attention because it occurred two months after the Obamas dismissed divorce rumors on Michelle's podcast, IMO. Prior to that, there were reports of a rift due to Michelle's absence from two major events in January: former President Jimmy Carter's funeral and President Trump's inauguration.
On the podcast, Michelle stated, "There wasn't a moment in this marriage where I thought about leaving. We've been through some hard times; we've had a lot of joy, a lot of challenges. I've become a better person because of the man I married." The couple married in 1992 and have two daughters.
