The 28-year-old actress and the crew of the film *Pha dam sinh nhat me* (*Crashing Mom's Birthday*) held a premiere on the afternoon of 14/8 in Ho Chi Minh City. Among the cast, Tin Nguyen is the newest face, alongside veteran actors of the southern stage such as Ai Nhu, Hong Anh, Thanh Hoi, and Huu Chau.
In the film, she plays Hao - the daughter-in-law of Mrs. Tam (played by Ai Nhu), who witnesses numerous conflicts and disputes within the family. With this new role, she does not pursue her comedic strengths but delves into the character's tragedy, especially in the climactic scene during her mother-in-law's funeral. Taking on emotionally demanding scenes, Tin Nguyen admits to feeling the pressure of maintaining the emotional arc, with many days spent "crying from the moment I arrived on set until I left."
The actress says that thanks to the challenge of acting alongside veteran artists, she has had the opportunity to enhance her acting skills. "If my co-stars weren't able to convey sufficient energy, my performance wouldn't be convincing. I'm fortunate to be guided by these experienced actors and actresses, which has helped me embody the character more fully," she said.

For Tin Nguyen, throughout her two years in the film industry, pursuing her passion has not been easy. For many films, she had to actively seek out casting calls to try her hand at appealing scripts and novel roles, facing numerous rejections along the way. The actress says she has never thought about shedding her "TikToker" label because it was the stepping stone that brought her to film. "It doesn't matter how people remember me. I always keep in mind that I need to work harder to maintain my performance and not disappoint the audience," she said.
Tin Nguyen's real name is Nguyen Thi Dac Tin. She was born in Phu Yen. Before becoming a content creator on TikTok, she was a dancer in a dance troupe in Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa) and studied preschool education. She has participated in the web drama *Thach Sanh Ly Thanh* by Ngoc Thanh Tam, the music video *Y troi* by Dong Nhi, and several projects by Huynh Lap.
In 2021, during the social distancing period due to the pandemic, Tin Nguyen began filming and posting content on TikTok. She gradually gained popularity on the platform with various types of videos, such as dance performances and comedic skits. In 2024, she made her film debut in Ly Hai's *Lat mat 7*, receiving praise for her role as a fishing village wife waiting for her husband's return after a storm. The three films she has acted in have all been successful: *Lat mat 7* (482 billion VND), *Tham tu Kien* (250 billion VND), and *Lat mat 8* (232 billion VND).
*Crashing Mom's Birthday* is a black comedy inspired by the excerpt "The Happiness of a Funeral" from the novel *So do* by Vu Trong Phung. The film revolves around an urban family burdened by the pressure of success.
A crisis unfolds during the mother's birthday, as family members reveal conflicts and resentments they have hidden for years. The film, released in early September during the Vu Lan season (a Buddhist holiday honoring parents), conveys the message: Don't wait until it's too late to truly understand your mother.
The film also stars Huu Chau, Hong Anh, Tran Kim Hai, and Samuel An. Nguyen Thanh Binh (also known as Binh Bong Bot, screenwriter of *Mai* and *Blood Moon Party*) is the film's executive producer.
