Vietnamese fans don wedding dresses to meet Greg Hsu

Many fans wore white dresses and veils to the meet-and-greet event with Taiwanese actor Greg Hsu on the afternoon of 24/9.

The event began at 2:30 p.m., but eager fans arrived as early as 9:00 a.m., forming long lines in front of the cinema. They brought banners and gifts, creating a lively atmosphere. Some fans even wore wedding dresses and veils, expressing their affection for the star.

Khanh Vy, a 25-year-old fan from Ho Chi Minh City, said she chose to wear a wedding dress because she became a fan of Hsu after watching his movie "My Love." The film tells the story of a 15-year love affair between Zhou Xiaoqi (Greg Hsu) and You Yongci (Zhang Ruonan). Vy chose and rented her dress the day before and woke up at 7:00 a.m. to do her hair and makeup.

According to the distributor, five screenings featuring the actor and film crew sold out on the first day tickets went on sale. Hai My, a 24-year-old fan from Ho Chi Minh City, said, "I've been a fan of Greg Hsu for a long time, and knowing he was coming to Vietnam, I came early to meet him in person. The atmosphere at the cinema was electric; everyone was excited to see him."

Earlier that day, Hsu arrived in Vietnam for the first time for the film's press conference. Despite landing around 1:00 a.m., the actor appeared refreshed and continually waved to his fans.

At the press conference, Hsu said, "I couldn't believe the hundreds of fans waiting for me at the airport. Everyone's cheers surprised and touched me." He quickly learned a few Vietnamese phrases to interact with fans, such as "Hello Vietnam" and "I love you all."

The actor mentioned his tight schedule prevented him from enjoying many traditional dishes, but he hoped to return to experience more of the local culture and cuisine. On 25/9, the team continued to Singapore for another promotional event before returning to Taipei for the premiere on the 29th.

"Your Love Song," directed by Kung Siu Ping, marks Hsu's return to the screen after completing his mandatory military service in mid-August. The film is set in a world divided by a "gravity wall": on one side, time moves slowly, stretching a single day into a year, while on the other, a year passes in just one day. This difference creates conflict for the main characters.

Hsu explained that he joined the project through an introduction from producer and production designer Chang Hai Jia. After reading the script, he was captivated by the story's blend of joy, sorrow, romance, and fantasy. He was impressed by the theme of human survival in different circumstances, a message that resonated with his own philosophy of "slow living." While playing the character Khoai Tay (Potato), Hsu realized the importance of cherishing every moment.

With his handsome looks, he's affectionately called "national husband" and "youth idol" by fans. In 2020, Hsu ranked 69th on Forbes' list of 100 most famous stars in China.
